Multiplexed Field Unit Transmitter

General informations
The CHxx145 Transmitter monitor corrosion penetration in any environment (solid, liquid or gaseous) using the first Ohm’s Law to relate measured electrical resistance of a Sensing Element to its geometrical variations induced by corrosion (ER probes) & using the electrochemical law of potential deviation.

The transmitters are connected to ER & LPR Probes by suitable Cables and are located near the Probes themselves.

Data can be transferred to the receiver Unit or to a Computer (laptop or notebook IBM compatible) or to a mULTIMATE 141DL or to a MM142ER/LPR/145CM equipment either through a cable RS232 or via an optical, infrared, RS232 Link.

The measurement is carried out timed and memorised in a internal memory.

The rates of measures are re-programmable 0.1-1000 hours.

Data and set-up are retained automatically for a minimum period of 30 Years

A single instrument can be set to measure one (CH0145) or many (CHxx145 multiplexed) ER, LPR, ZRA or POL probes: each Probe can be distinguished by a unique TAG number and measures are memorised in a non-volatile memory with Tag number & Date/time associated.

Operating principle
The CHxx145 Transmitter reads the ratio of electrical resistance between an exposed Sensing Element and a similar, protected Reference Element, which provides thermal compensation for the Probe (ER Probe);  CHxx145 reads the electrical resistance of the corroding electrode-electrolyte interface (LPR Probe).

Using the appropriate relationship between electric resistance and geometry of the sensing Element, the ER Transmitter can calculate the variation in cross section of the Sensing Element and thereby the corrosion penetration; hence, knowing the time from the last measure, the rate of corrosion.

For LPR Probes  the polarization resistance is measured as the ratio of the applied DC potential to the flowing current and is constant over a small range (<20mV) and is related to corrosion rate.
