Drilling Tool |
|
|
Drilling tool (i.e. Hot Tap) is used when it is necessary to install a corrosion monitoring point in a plant that is in use and under pressure. It has to be screwed in the access fitting (previously welded in the pipeline), and then it opens a suitable hole in the pipeline wall by means of cutter’s blades mounted on its lower part. Magnetic slides are positioned in between the blades to avoid contamination of pipeline fluid due to the removed material. Once the hole is realized, hot tap is disassembled, leaving in place the inner solid plug with the attached cutter. These parts are successively removed by using a retriever tool and replaced with an appropriate monitoring device. |
